Patarkatsishvili Charged With Plotting, Terrorism
Georgian prosecutors have charged businessman Badri Patarkatsishvili with plotting and staging a terror action RIA Novosti reported. Patarkatsishvili ran for presidency in the recent elections in Georgia.
The charges have been presented under Clause 315 (plotting to overthrow the state power), Clause 325 (preparing an assassination attempt at an official) and Clause 323 (staging a terror action).
Patarkatsishvili will be summoned to the prosecutor’s office and enforcement bodies have been sanctioned to tie up his accounts with Georgia’s Standard Bank.
Early in November, Badri Patarkatsishvili publicly backed up the opposition calling for Saakashvili’s ouster. The police broke up the rally and prosecutors opened a criminal case against the businessman on count of attempted coup.
The criminal prosecution was terminated in mid-December, but Patarkatsishvili’s conflict with enforcement bodies aggravated anew when he declared that the authorities prepare an assassination attempt at him. In return, the prosecutors made public the records, where a person, allegedly Patarkatsishvili, tries to bribe a top-ranked officer of the Interior Ministry.
