Prime Minister Set Tasks for 3 Years
Past year’s economic achievements have confirmed positive movement of economy’s growth in the country, Russia’s Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov told the cabinet today.
“Losing the vigorous business dynamics of the past year wouldn’t be right,” Zubkov said, urging the cabinet to strengthen it and move forward when tackling strategic tasks, which are numerous in the government's plans for 2008 to 2010.
In the following three years, the cabinet will focus on improving living standards of the nation and on creating conditions for the stable economic growth. Well-balanced development of the regions is also amid priorities of nearest future.
The problems of accelerated growth in consumer prices and high differentiation of the nation’s income are still acute, the prime minister specified.
According to Zubkov, Russia’s GDP grew 7.6 percent past year, industrial production gained 6 percent, fixed capital investments soared 20 percent. In this year’s first quarter, the GDP is to step up by at least 6.7 percent, the industrial production will increase 5.7 percent and the invested amount will widen 14 percent.
