Applying for Britain’s Visa Gets Easier
The procedure for submitting biometrical data for Britain’s visa in St. Petersburg has become less complicated today, January 10, 2008, RIA Novosti reported.
The changes will take effect in Moscow January 14 and come in force in Ekaterinburg on January 17.

Irrespective of citizenship, all those applying for visas will be able to submit biometrical data, including fingerprint scanning and digital photo, in Britain’s visa offices in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Ekaterinburg simultaneously with lodging the applications. Under the new regulations, an applicant will no longer have to visit the Moscow embassy or consulates in St. Petersburg or Ekaterinburg, the Britain’s embassy reported.

In the visa offices of Britain, they use an electronic scanner to scan fingers’ impression; the scanning and taking a digital photo takes from 15 to 20 minutes.
