Serial Production of Bombers Starts in Novosibirsk
The Novosibirsk Aviation Construction Association is ready to begin serial production of Su-34 bomber planes. A Sukhoi Co. representative, equipment was installed in the plant last year that will permit the construction of 20 planes simultaneously and double repair speed. The plant will continue to be modernized throughout this year and next. Forty-three new production units will be installed at a cost of over ˆ50 million.
Besides producing Su-34, the plant repairs and upgrades the Su-24M. Serial production of the Su-34 began in 2006. That model is to be fully replaced by Su-34 in the Russian Air Force between 2015 and 2020. The Air Force plans to buy up to 300 of the Su-34.
