Russians Named Putin Person of Year after Time Magazine
The better part of the nation named President Vladimir Putin the person of the year, showed the recent poll of the Public Opinion Fund.
Some 52 percent of respondents named Vladimir Putin when the pollsters asked them to choose the person of the year among Russia’s policymakers and public figures. What’s more, 67 percent gave the excellent mark to his activities and just 3 percent of respondents said they were displeased with his work.

First Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev follows Putin with the 4-percent score, sharing silver with LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky. Another First Deputy PM Sergei Ivanov is the third in terms of this year’s impact.

In addition to being the first deputy PM, Medvedev is the presidential candidate in the country. His candidacy had been put forward by four parties, including the ruling United Russia, and Vladimir Putin publicly backed up Medvedev in this undertaking.

As to forthcoming presidential elections that Russia holds March 2, most respondents (46 percent) said they would vote for Dmitry Medvedev, 7 percent would support Gennady Zyuganov (Communist Party of the RF) and 6 percent would prefer Vladimir Zhirinovsky.

The poll covered 3,000 respondents in 200 settlements of 63 regions of Russia; statistic error doesn’t exceed 2.5 percent.
