Gryzlov Elected State Duma Speaker
United Russia’s leader Boris Gryzlov has been elected the speaker of the Fifth State Duma, RIA Novosti reported.
As many as 356 lawmakers voted for Gryzlov, 55 voted against him and two abstained from voting at the first sitting of the lower house of Russia’s parliament.

Gryzlov was also the speaker at the previous State Duma and United Russia’s faction elected him its leader already. The State Duma is also expected to elect ten vice-speakers and chiefs of 32 committees today, December 24.
