Toyota to Construct the 2nd Carmaker in St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg carmaker of Toyota has produced today the first Toyota Camry. Also today, Toyota President Katsuaki Watanabe announced that the company is willing to build the second plant in St. Petersburg. The project dates are being specified, Watanabe said.
Toyota’s second facility in St. Petersburg will probably produce the cars of mass demand. Toyota intends to attain the annual estimated capacity of 50,000 cars at its plant near St. Petersburg during a year and a half.
As to the first stage of the plant, the construction investments reached 4 billion rubles. The estimated capacity of the carmaker is 200,000 cars a year.
Shushary sub-plant of 110/10kW has been inaugurated also today. It will generate electric power not only for Toyota Motor Corporation, but for all carmakers to be constructed under the automobile cluster project in Shushary-village of St. Petersburg Pushkino region.
