John McCain Called for Tougher Attitude to Russia
U.S. senator and presidential candidate John McCain (R-Ariz.) called for much stronger response to Putin in an exclusive interview with The Boston Herald. The hawkish statements of senator are just the election rhetoric, Russia’s policial analysts commented, predicting, however, that the next U.S. president wouldn't be very friendly to Russia.
“I would have had a much stronger response to Mr. Putin a long time ago. I would seriously consider saying the G8 shouldn’t invite him to its next meeting,” John McCain vowed in the interview with The Boston Herald.

“I looked into his eyes and saw three letters: a K, a G and a B,” the senator said opposing the trusting impression that U.S. President George Bush had developed during the first meeting with Putin.

Not long ago, the ardent senator called Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Dmirty Medvedev a mere puppet. Putin's favored presidential candidate, Medvedev had been nominated by four parties, including the ruling United Russia.

Predictably, McCain criticized the decision of Time magazine, which named Putin "Person of the Year".
