Putin Presses for Real Growth in Nation’s Income
Russia’s federal and regional budgets should be adjusted to ensure the 1.5-fold growth in real income of the nation, Putin said as quoted by Interfax news agency.
“Yes, our budgets have been made up and your regional budgets have been made up, I understand. It means we will have to revise the federal budget and you [will] revise yours… We need to understand what the priority is. The priority is the development, of course. But there will be no development if we dupe the people, as there will be no credit of power. And the credit of power is the key development resource both in economy and in social field.

“It’s necessary to see what could be corrected. But the federal budget, finance ministry will have to help certain regions. I won’t give the figures now, but they will be grand,” the president promised, pointing out that the aid will be provided to the regions not individually but under certain methods.

Putin also emphasized the need to ensure the growth in real income in view of inflation. “With regard to the previous commitments, to step up 1.5 fold the actual level of revenues,” the president said. “It relates to the federal budget institutions, it relates to the military.”

“It is, of course, an additional task for all of us, including the regions, but we will have to accomplish it,” Putin said.
