Russia to Test G5 Fighter in 2009
The tests of multifunctional combat jet of the fifth generation are slated for 2009 and its serial production will be launched by 2015, Sukhoi General Director Mikhail Pogosyan announced.
“We plan to start testing this jet in 2009. As a whole, everything is going to plan,” Pogosyan told reporters at Langkawi International Aerospace & Maritime Exhibition (LIMA) that will last till December 8.

The G5 jet will be launched into serial production closer to 2015, Pogosyan promised.

“Nowadays, we are at the stage of constructing pre-production models of G5 fighters. Further on, it is necessary to pass step-by-step all stages related to preparing the start of its flight tests,” Pogosyan pointed out.

The test cycle of G5 jet will be much longer than Su-35 had, Pogosyan specified, adding that today’s platform of Su-35 will materially speed up serial production of G5 jets.

“The G5 avionics is developing continuously and the exterior of the jet with which we will begin tests in 2009 will be developing and changing rather rapidly.”
