Russia’s Vodka Gains Luxury Spirit
Vodka is perhaps the most specific alcohol drink in the world. But exactly vodka that was popular as a versatile cocktail mixer a few years ago is being reinvented as a luxury spirit to challenge cognacs and champagnes, The International Herald Tribute reported.
Nowadays, big numbers of the rich that can afford the most expensive alcohol tend to prefer Russia’s traditional drink, vodka, to vintage cognac or festive champagne.

Ordinary vodka won’t do for this purpose, of course. The fat cats will buy only the high-priced product with grand status on the alcohol market. Today’s buyers of luxury don’t want a mere drink, they need something impressive, with image and history.

Poland’s rye-based vodka by Polmos Siedlce will suit their taste. It is produced under a patented filtration technology with using 100 cut diamonds of one carat in size. This diamond vodka is sold in Europe in the bottles decorated by Swarovski crystals at roughly $100.

Gold Flakes Supreme rates evidently the highest in glam style with its 0.75-liter mixture of vodka and shavings of 24-karat gold. "Gold is appreciated universally," said Anais Egre of Louis Royer as quoted by The International Herald Tribune.

The famed Donald Trump vodka couldn’t be resisted either. Contained in a rectangular 24-karat gold bottle with the T capital on each side, this vodka has been offered to the Russians already. The sales started with 1,000 bottles, while the plans are to sell as many as 45,000 via retail.
