Former Defense Minister Leads in Popularity
The electoral rating of potential runners for Russia’s presidency hasn’t changed materially over a month, Interfax reported with reference to Levada Center.
If the elections were held on Sunday and missed by President Putin, a quarter of the polled would vote for First Vice Premier Sergei Ivanov, whose previous appointment was the RF defense minister. Some 24 percent would back up First Vice Premier Dmitry Medvedev, 20 percent would vote for Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov (vs. 19 percent a month ago), said analysts of Levada Center.
Levada Center held its poll November 9 through 13 in 128 cities, towns and villages of 46 regions of Russia, covering 1,600 respondents overall. The statistic error doesn’t exceed 3 percent.
According to the poll, leader of Russia’s Communist Party (CPRF) Gennady Zyuganov enjoys the support of 15 percent; i.e. his rating improved by 3 percent vs. October. At the same time, LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky is popular with no more than 8 percent now, which is 5 percent less than a month ago.
