Bush Administration Froze Belneftekhim Accounts
The U.S. administration has frozen accounts of Belarus state consortium Belneftekhim, Telegraf.by reported.
From now on, the U.S. residents are banned from clinching any deals and having business with Belneftekhim offices in Germany, Ukraine, Latvia, Russia and China as well as with its U.S. subsidiary, Belneftekhim USA, the U.S. Treasury Department announced.

According to OFAC chief Adam Szubin, the recent action has toughened the U.S. sanctions against Lukashenko and his mates by imposing sanctions on a big conglomerate that is controlled by the regime.

In 2006, the Unites States froze personal accounts of Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and of nine top-ranked bureaucrats of the country. The assets of six more bureaucrats were blocked in February 2007, extending the black list to 16 persons.
