Georgia’s Parliament Ready to Endorse State of Emergency
Georgia’s parliament is to decide Friday whether to endorse the state of emergency, which President Mikhail Saakashvili declared for 15 days.
The parliament is likely to approve today the emergency for 15 days, deputy speaker Mikhail Machavariani said, specifying that the state of emergency will be lifted once the date of presidential elections is fixed.

All those in the opposition willing to negotiate with the parliamentary majority, Machavariani said, could turn to the office of parliament speaker Nino Burjanadze. But the opposition has delivered ultimatums again and the negotiations are stalled, the vice speaker complained.
