United Russia Advocates Special Status for Putin
Abdul-Khakim Sultygov, the United Russia’s coordinator for national policy, has proposed to secure the special status for Vladimir Putin after presidential elections of 2008.
According to official Web of United Russia, the ruling party intends to call the First Civil Council of Russia’s Nation to pass the Civil Unity Pact. This pact will spell out “the institute of national leader as the basic element for the country’s new configuration of power.”
The national leader phenomenon is the unique product of today’s Russia, the pact says. “Although the national leader’s phenomenon isn’t common to the states with mature democratic traditions, in some western democracies, the institute of constitutional monarchy is the symbol of national unity,” Sultygov pointed out.
By topping the list of Untied Russia to the State Duma, Sultygov went on, the president has assumed personal responsibility for United Russia as for the leading political force in the country. In essence, the matter at stake is the personal responsibility of the national leader for Russia’s future.
The presidential elections of 2008 should secure the victory of the Putin’s Plan and Putin’s successor. “The matter at stake is the successor to President Putin, not to Putin as a national leader,” Sultygov said.
