Russia to Smartly Develop Energy Sector
Russia will be smart when developing its energy sector with an emphasis on processing extension, said First Vice Premier Dmitry Medvedev.
“It’s quite obvious that the natural resources are vital for our country’s development…, but we shouldn’t use them so recklessly and we, of course, are to advance to the higher level of redistribution, i.e. deal with creating the product with higher value added,” Medvedev declared in an interview to German ZDF, adding that it will be advantageous both for Russia and its partners.

”We, of course, will develop our natural sector, energy sector, but do it with understanding, thoughtfully, realizing that the more we will invest in production of high-tech equipment, creation of product based on the higher value added, the better it will be for the country,” Medvedev pointed out.

The unit weight of production sector of natural resources is very high in Russia’s economy, the first vice premier emphasized.

”We should be developing our high-tech production, we must boost our engineering, deal with IT, so all these positions should be balanced. Only then, Russia will be a country with high level of economy’s development, a sound participant of such big associations as, for example, the Group 8,” Medvedev said.
