The Nation to Put 1m Questions to Putin
The number of questions that the Russians lodged for October 18 hot line with President Vladimir Putin will soon reach a million. As of 10:00 a.m. MSK, 998,195 questions were put to the president, ITAR-TASS reported.
Most Russians (958,579) asked their questions by phone, while 39,616 used Internet for this purpose. At: http://www.president-line.ru, the Russians can not only question the president but also read the most popular queries.

The questions have been received since Sunday, once the hot line with the president was announced. The country’s federal channels – Pervy, Rossia and Vesti – as well as Mayak and Radio Rossii radio stations will cover the dialogue of the nation and president October 18.

Putin’s intercourse with the nation is a matter of tradition already. It will be his sixth TV dialogue with the Russians. Putin talked with the nation in 2001, 2002 and 2003 shortly before the New Year. Later, however, it was decided to hold the hot line earlier. It is too cold in Russia in December, the president explained.

Last year’s hot line was held October 25 and took the record two hours 54 minutes. Putin answered to 52 Russians from nine regions as well as to the residents of Sevastopol, spending a bit more than 3 minutes on average for a question.
