Putin Will Go to Iran Despite Hazard
The program of Iran’s visit of President Vladimir Putin hasn’t been changed, Interfax announced with reference to a source with Russia’s delegation. ”The visit’s preparation continues,” the source said.
Interfax reported Sunday about plotting the attempted murder of President Vladimir Putin. The news agency said the groups of suicide killers had been set up to attack Putin in Teheran, during the summit of the Caspian states’ leaders slated for October 15 and 16.
In Putin’s administration, they said they informed the president about the reports but declined to elaborate. Putin refused to comment either.
But the news produced agitation in the State Duma. According to Gennady Gudkov from Duma’s Security Committee, the information shouldn’t be viewed groundless and Iran’s leadership should adequately respond to it. Such rumors, Gudkov went on, signal that there are certain political forces in the world, to which the standing of Russia and its president poses a real threat.
Putin is in Germany now, where he takes part in Russia’s-German discussions. He will leave Wiesbaden for Teheran at night to October 16.
