Dementieva Is the First Semi-Finalist at Kremlin Cup
Russia’s Elena Dementieva has advanced to the semifinal of the annual Kremlin Cup tennis tournament in Moscow Olympic Stadium. For this purpose, Dementieva overwhelmed 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 Victoria Azarenka of Belarus Friday.
Dementieva will next play the winner of Vera Zvonareva-Dinara Safina standoff, says the official web of the Kremlin Cup. So, at least one Russian will advance to the tournament’s final for sure. In other quarterfinals that are also slated for today, Russia’s Svetlana Kuznetsova faces Vera Dushevina and U.S. Serena Williams plays Nicole Vaidisova of the Czech Republic.
In the men’s singles, Russia’s Nikolay Davydenko meets his compatriot Igor Andreev today, Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia meets Czech Radek Stepanek, Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber faces Michael Berrer and French Florent Serra plays his compatriot Paul-Henri Mathieu.
