First Launches of Angara Slated for 2011
The first launches of Angara Space Missile System are slated for 2011, Russia’s First Vice Premier Sergei Ivanov announced during the meeting of the government’s military and industrial commission.
According to the general schedule, Angara’s development and components’ delivery to the spaceport for the flight tests should be completed by 2010, Ivanov specified. The facility that is being created at Khrunichev Main Space Research and Production Center along with Soyuz-2 booster will guarantee space entry to the country and ensure complete execution of federal programs for launching space vehicles of military, social-economic and research designation.

The previous plans were to start testing heavy Angara in 2011 but set to the tests of light Angara already in 2010.

Angara Space Missile System will consist of the missiles ranging from light to the heavy class with the load capacity of 1.5 tons to 25 tons, operating on the near-earth orbit.
