Problem of Debt to Gazprom to Be Solved
Ukraine’s Fuel and Energy Minister Yuri Boiko will meet Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller in Moscow on Monday to continue the talks on gas cooperation and debt settlement, Mayak Broadcaster reported.
The plans are to sign a protocol on redistributing gas in Ukrainian storage facilities in settlement for Ukrainian debt to Gazprom, Boiko said before leaving for Moscow. According to Boiko, the debt of over $1.3 billion was generated because of the unpaid gas in the underground storage facilities of Ukraine.

The gas prices for Ukraine will be fair and market and determined with regard to today’s pricing, said Russia’s First Vice Premier Dmitry Medvedev, who is also the chairman at Gazprom BOD. The prices will be decided when the debt is paid to Russia.

”It’s high time that our partners get accustomed to the idea that they should pay for gas. It is necessary to pay in time and under the contracts concluded,” Medvedev specified, pointing out that the price for Ukrainian fuel is a purely economic issue and it shouldn’t trigger any political discussion.
