U.S. Tests New Missile Defense System Today
The United States holds today another trial of its missile defense system. A target ballistic missile will be launched from the Kodiak spaceport, Alaska, Russia’s Echo Moskvy reported.
The flight path of the target missile will be followed by the world most powerful Sea-Based X-Band Radar (SBX). The flights of civic aircraft as well as the ship movement in the region have been banned for a while.
The trial will be repeated tomorrow if the failure occurs or the weather conditions are unfavorable, the U.S. military decided.
The thing is that the system’s trial failed in May. Then, the target missile fell to the Pacific Ocean even before the launch of the interceptor, which wasn’t fired at all as a result. The reason was the engine's malfunction, the U.S. military explained later.
