Zubkov to Head Presidium of Olympic Preparation Council
Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov will head Presidium of the Council for Sport and Preparation to 2014 Olympics, President Vladimir Putin told President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Jacques Rogge, Vesti reported.
The Council, Putin said, will include key ministers, representatives of departments and public organizations. It will also have an Organization Committee to be taken over by Dmitry Chernyshenko, chief of Sochi 2014 Application Committee. The Organization Committee will work directly with colleagues from International Olympic Committee, Putin pointed out.
Putin also said that the interests of Sochi residents will be taken into account when elaborating documents to develop the territory for Olympic facilities. The respective orders have been given to the government and president’s administration, Putin said.
Russia’s State Duma is to pass two bills related to Olympic preparations this fall. It will be the Olympic Bill and the Bill on State Corporation for 2014 Olympic Preparation.
