The Slump Continues
The U.S. dollar continues to suffer hefty losses vs. the ruble. The weighted average rate was 24.96 ruble/dollar in an hour and a half after the start of the special session, tomorrow settlement, i.e. the September 28 official rate could sink another 2 kopecks.
The U.S. dollar lost 6 kopecks on the next trading day, that is it depreciated 8 kopecks, or 0.3 percent, to Russian rubles during two days.

The reason of dollar’s decline on MICEX could be the notable appreciation of euro on international stock exchanges. Nowadays, each euro costs roughly $1.4160, though the price was roughly $1.4125 on September 26.

Of interest is that the U.S. currency depreciated on the MICEX unified trading session, when the sales weren’t significant in amount. As of 11:30 a.m., MSK, for instance, the commercial banks sold a bit more than $350 million.

U.S. dollar fell below the psychologically vital 25 rubles on September 24.
