Mate of Abramovich to Succeed Mourinho
Avram Grant of Israel, who is the football director at Chelsea, will succeed Jose Mourinho as the chief coach of the Blues. Grant is a mate of Roman Abramovich and his official presentation in the new capaicty is slated for September 20, BBC News reported.
Before Chelsea, Avram Grant, 51, was the technical director at Britain’s Portsmouth. He had led the national squad of Israel along with Maccabi Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa clubs prior to Portsmouth employment.
The stunning resignation of Jose Mourinho was reported at night from September 19 to 20. In the last match under Mourinho’s guidance, Chelsea failed to beat Norwegian Rosenborg, ending the match with the shocking draw of 1-1 at home stadium and recording the third successive game without a win.
