Elton John Sang 2.5 Hours in Moscow
Britain’s pop star Elton John, 60, starred for 2.5 hours in the Kremlin Tuesday. He showed that his voice is as strong as ever, fingers on the piano pushbuttons are dexterous, movements are easy and clothes are most extravagant.
There were practically no empty seats in the hall for 6,000 at the Kremlin Congress Palace yesterday. Elton John showed up unexpectedly early - the concert began just 40 minutes after the scheduled time, when hundreds were still queuing to enter the Kremlin. As a result of such accuracy, Elton John had to sing the first songs when a part of the audience was threading the way to the seats. He was dressed in the black sparkling frock coat, black trousers with red stripes and red T-shirt.

The response to the first songs dating back to mid.-1970s was calm, but the ninth one, Sacrifice, stirred up the crowd.

The star dedicated one of the last album’s songs, The Bridge, to Russia’s famous cellist Mstislav Rostropovich, who died in Moscow in spring. “I love you, Slava,” the singer shouted from the stage, paying tribute to one of his famed friends. A minute before it, Russia’s billionaire Alisher Usmanov, who recently acquired Rostropovich-Vishnevskaya Collection, quietly left the concert hall.

Elton John sang around 20 songs in the Kremlin that day, offering to the Moscow audience such hits as Crocodile Rock, I'm Still Standing, Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me and Blessed, and getting the crowd to feet in the end.
