Defense Minister Resigns on Relative Links
Russia’s Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov handed in resignation to President Vladimir Putin Tuesday, RIA Novosti reported with reference to PM Viktor Zubkov.
The reason of Serdyukov’s resignation is the ties of relatives between him and Russia’s new Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov. Serdyukov is Zubkov’s son-in-law and his resignation had been agreed on with the president even before the State Duma backed up Zubkov past Friday.
Zubkov also said he submitted to president the proposals on new cabinet’s strength and structure and Putin “is working with documents.” The government, Zubkov promised, will be formed in time spelled out in the laws - within seven days after his approval, i.e. by this Friday, September 21.
