Migrants Are Deadlock for Demography
Solving demography problems in Russia for account of migrants is the deadlock, Federation Council Speaker Sergey Mironov announced Monday during the Moscow Round Table.
”It wouldn’t be Russia” in historical term should the demography problems be tackled for account of non-residents, Mironov emphasized. “We must solve demography problems in Russia by means of our own resources, by driving up the birth-rate of the RF citizens and lowering the death rate.”

Asked about migrants from CIS, Mironov pointed out that those states and Russia would better think of improving migration procedures. The migrants should be employed in Russia only for temporal and seasonal work, the speaker made clear.

Of interest is that, nowadays, Rodina (Motherland) Party is a member of Mironov’s Fair Russia Party. Rodina was particularly aggressive about the migrants two years ago, and as a result of it, it was crossed out from the lists at quite a few regional elections and changed leaders, including Dmirty Rogozin.
