Potential PM to Address State Duma
The candidate to PM’s office, Viktor Zubkov, will voice to State Duma’s lawmakers today his proposals on managing Russia’s cabinet in time of forthcoming elections.
In the State Duma, Viktor Zubkov will begin with the communist faction, planning to visit LDPR in an hour and attend the Fair Russia’s meeting in the next move. Zubkov’s get-together with spokesmen of United Russia is slated for the mid-day.
State Duma’s Speaker Boris Gryzlov has proposed already to discuss Zubkov as potential prime minister of the country September 14. No delay is expected; this top-ranked bureaucrat is bolstered by leaders of United Russia, Fair Russia and LDPR, i.e. the absolute majority is likely to be granted during the first voting.
It was President Vladimir Putin that put forward Viktor Zubkov to take over the cabinet. Putin accepted Fradkov’s resignation yesterday, authorizing him to remain acting PM until the State Duma sanctions successor.
Viktor Zubkov was born September 15, 1941 in the Sverdlov region. His record of the last eight years sets forth offices mostly located in finance bodies of the country. He first headed the RF Tax and Dues Ministry’s Department in St. Petersburg and then advanced to the post of first deputy finance minister of Russia.
Viktor Zubkov has been the chief of Federal Financial Monitoring Service since March of 2004.
