Rep. Trent Franks Urges Russia to Join Another Race
Rep. Trent Franks, who heads the faction of missile defense supporters in the U.S. Congress, has urged Russia to join the missile defense race with the United States. The congressman made the respective statement during the Multinational Ballistic Missile Defense Conference currently held in Maastricht, the Netherlands.
Franks’ proposal to Russia is to unleash another race, this time the race of cooperation and competitiveness. To be more precise, Franks called on Moscow to compete in developing the best system of missile defense capable of protecting the children worldwide against Jihad’s nuclear shadow, RIA Novosti announced.
A day before this emphatic statement of congressman, NBC reported that the United States is getting ready for a new test of missile defense. This time, an interceptor launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base of the United States, California, will shoot down the ballistic target-missile that will take off from Kodiak spaceport, Alaska.
Past weekend, C17 jet delivered the engine for ballistic target-missile to Kodiak. The preparation has been underway for seven months already and the launch from Kodiak has been slated for late September or early October, NBC specified.
