British Airways to Pay 67,000 Rubles for Driving Out Pavel Bure
The Tver Court of Moscow has narrowed the indemnity to be paid by British Airways to former NHL player Pavel Bure for driving him out of the airliner, RIA Novosti reported.
The court ruled to enforce on British Airlines in Bure’s favor just 57,000 rubles for material damage and 10,000 rubles for moral damage. The initial amount sought by Bure stood at 20 million rubles.
Bure’s lawyer Dmitry Ragulin said they would appeal against the award, seeking bigger amount for moral damage.
On October 31, 2006, a pilot of British Airways, Moscow-London flight, mistaken the NHL star for a rowdy soccer fan, refused to take off and police drove Bure out of the plane. British Airways officially apologized to him in June of 2007.
