Russia’s First Space Tourist Will Be Young Businessman
Russia’s first space tourist will make the flight in 2009; he is a young businessman and policymaker, RIA Novosti reported with reference to Federal Space Agency’s Chief Anatoly Perminov.
”He personally asked me not to disclose his name,” Perminov specified. “I can only say he is Russia’s most serious young businessman and policymaker.”
The future space tourist currently undergoes medical examination required for this purpose, Perminov said.
Space Adventures that actually deals with arranging the tourist trips to outer space announced in April 2007 they had 12 applications and a good queue for such flights.
For a tourist, a journey to International Space Station costs $25 million. No Russians will go to ISS in 2007 through 2008, as all seats at Soyuz spaceships have been booked for these years.
