WW2 Fighter Failed to Soft-Land
The flight of WW2 DIT fighter nearly ended by crash during the MAKS-2007 international air show in Zhukovsky, outside Moscow, August 22, 2007, Interfax reported.
When descending after successful performance, the fighter of WW2 time touched the air-strip by the right wing and ran off to the airfield.
The pilot, however, managed to re-start the engine and independently taxied out of the strip to the show area. The incident led to no casualties.
The analysts say this incident is a precondition for flight accident. It could have resulted from landing along with the wind, while the usual practice is to land contrary to it.
DIT plane (two-seat training fighter) was designed in 1930s on the base of famous I-15 fighter. It served for training pilots of fighter aircraft.
