Belarus Paid for Gas in Whole
Belarus has settled all debt for Russia’s gas, RIA Novosti reported with reference to Gazprom spokesman Sergey Kupriyanov. Gazprom received the last installment on August 8. Overall, Belarus owed to Russia’s gas monopoly $460 million.
Minsk paid over $300 million to Gazprom far back on Friday, i.e. on August 3, and was to settle the remainder till August 10. Otherwise Gazprom threatened to cut down the supplies pro rata the amount that was actually paid up.

Another gas conflict of Russia’s Gazprom and Belarus sparkled on July 23. Minsk was to pay for the Q1 supplies of Russia’s gas but failed to do it for some reason.

Gazprom rebuffed by promising to trim deliveries by 45 percent, making Europe question stability of Russia’s gas supplies once again.

The gas price for Belarus surged to $100/ths cu meters on January 1, 2007. The previous price was just $46.68/ths cu meters.
