U.S. Air Defense Plans in Europe Is Mistake of White House
The U.S. intention to establish the third missile defense area in Poland and Czechia is the military and strategic mistake of the White House, said retired Lt. General Robert G. Gard.
Robert Gard is the Senior Military Fellow at the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation, i.e. he is a top-ranked expert in nuclear nonproliferation, missile defense, Iraq, military policy, nuclear terrorism and related national security issues of the United States.
According to Gard, the U.S. intention to station a radar in Czechia and interceptors in Poland is a military and strategic mistake of the White House and it is necessary to freeze establishment of missile defense system is Europe.
Gard also confirmed the rightness of President Vladimir Putin in part of the threat to Russia’s defense posed by the U.S. radar in Czechia.
Gard said the resolve of Bush administration to construct missile defense installations in Europe to add to facilities in Alaska and California is premature, totally wrong, leads to spending of billions of dollars and clouds relations with Europe’s allies and Russia.
The adverse aftereffect of this decision was Russia’s move to suspend the CFE Treaty on July 14. The next effort of Moscow could be the moratorium on treaty for mid/small range ballistic missiles, Gard warned.
