Russia Needs Written Response of U.S.
Russia expects the United States to respond in writing to the Moscow missile defense proposals, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced.
”The U.S. party will give written response,” Lavrov told Russia’s reporters during the press conference dedicated to results of the regional security forum in Manila.

Russia is ready for honest negotiations at the following rounds, Lavrov said when asked about the recent expert-level discussions with the United States dedicated to missile defense issues.

During the G8 summit, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin proposed to U.S. President George W. Bush to use the Qabala radar station instead of stationing interceptors in Poland and a radar in Czechia. Moreover, in addition to Qabala that Russia leases in Azerbaijan, Putin offered an early warning system that is being currently constructed in Armavir.

Washington hasn’t responded to Putin’s proposals yet. The first discussions of Russia and the United States were held in Washington July 30 to 31, while the second round could take place in a month in Moscow.
