Gorbachev Becomes an Ad Star
Former president of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev and France’s legend Catherine Deneuve have played in the advertising spot promoting Louis Vuitton’s luxury accessories range, ITAR-TASS reported.
Mikhail Gorbachev, who was the first and the sole president of collapsed Soviet Union, and French legendary actress Catherine Deneuve are now the starts of Louis Vuitton’s advertising. Once the general secretary of Soviet Communist Party and then its destroyer, Gorbachev is seen with a bag by Louis Vuitton riding past the remains of the symbol of communism's collapse, the Berlin Wall.
Catherine Deneuve plays the glamorous female counterpart to Gorbachev. "I don't think Louis Vuitton would have chosen me to star in a fashion campaign," she said as quoted by vogue.com. "This one is slightly different." Deneuve is pictured in the retro-style, sitting perched on two Louis Vuitton trunks at Paris's Gare de l'Est station.
Of interest is that, created more than 150 years ago, Louis Vuitton gained popularity also thanks to deliveries to the Russian Emperor Family.
