Marat Safin is the only Russian left at Legg Mason Tennis Classic tournament in Washington.
Another Russian, Evgeny Korolev, 19, suffered the 2nd round exist (3-6 3-6) against seven-seed Ivo Karlovic of Croatia in the second round yesterday.
Third-seed Marat Safin beat Jan Hernych 6-2 2-6 6-2 Tuesday. He will play today Dutch Robin Haase to advance to the quarterfinals.
The prize fund of the tournament is $600,000.
