Izhmash Builds Kalashnikov Assault Rifle Producer in Venezuela
Izhmash Consortium has launched construction of a plant in Venezuela to make Kalashnikov assault rifles there, Izhmash General Director Vladimir Grodetsky announced Monday during the news conference in Izhevsk city of Russia, Interfax reported.
“We have set to constructing the enterprise,” Grodetsky said. “We have all technical manuals available already. The orders are being placed now,” the official specified.

Izhmash will provide all required engineering equipment and deliver technology. “Our work will be done once the first consignment of assault rifles comes off production line. We have begun this work and it will last for three years,” Grodetsky pointed out.

The ceremony of laying a foundation stone “is likely to be held in October,” the official said.

Russia’s largest firearms producer, Izhmash, emerged by order of Tsar Alexander I in 1807. Today’s product line of the enterprise includes military firearms, sporting-hunting weapons, aircraft automatic guns, guided artillery gunning complexes, test vehicles for maintenance and repair of tank armaments, new models of motorcycles, automobiles, machinery and equipment.
