Berezovsky Charged with Stealing $13 Million from SBS-Agro
Russia’s prosecutors put forward against Boris Berezovsky new charges related to $13-million theft from SBS-Agro. Once the Kremlin insider, Berezovsky is today’s political émigré in Britain openly confessing the intention to bring down President Putin by means of bloodless revolution.
”Berezovsky is charged with organizing a criminal group to get credit funds of SBS-Agro in 1997 for acquiring real estate in the Mediterranean coast in France,” said lawyer Andrey Borovkov, who stands for Berezovsky.
The matter at stake is $13 million, the lawyer specified.
According to the lawyers that have just set to studying respective files, some business firm first got the credit, but afterwards the money went to companies allegedly controlled by Berezovsky.
”None of the firms relates to Berezovsky. He is the so-called secret mastermind, according to investigators,” the defender explained.
Berezovsky rented a cottage in France in 1997, said another lawyer Semen Aria. Then, the cottage was sold to some Britain’s firm, but Berezovsky wasn’t involved in the deal.
On June 29, 2007, Russia’s prosecutors opened the criminal case, separating it from the files investigated by prosecutors of Central Federal District.
When it comes to Berezovsky, it is the 11th case brought in against him in Russia, Aria specified. “As it is, I have got off the count,” the lawyer said.
