U.S. Dollar Posts Healthy Gains
The weighted exchange rate was 25.60 ruble/U.S. dollar in an hour and a half after the start of today’s trading session of MICEX, tomorrow settlement. So, the worth of U.S. dollar will probably go up by 10 kopecks as of July 31, 2007.
As the U.S. currency gained 11 kopecks over previous four trading days, the dollar has gained 21 kopecks (0.8 percent) to ruble on the fifth day of trading.
The reason of such healthy advance shown by the U.S. currency could be its notable appreciation vs. euro on global exchanges. A euro costs $1.3652 now, though the price was $1.3718 by the previous trading afternoon. Compared to previous trading, the U.S. dollar went up 0.5 percent vs. the European currency.
The ratio was 1 euro to $1.3643 in the first trading minutes at the Unified Trading Session (UTS), i.e. it was even more advantageous for the U.S. currency, which predictably brought momentum to the deals of commercial banks. As a result, this market’s turnover reached nearly $509 million as of 11:30 a.m.; the worth of an average deal exceeded $3.5 million.
