Endeavour to Take Off to ISS On Schedule
The launch of Space Shuttle Endeavour to International Space Station (ISS) won’t be shelved in the wake of sabotage of computer to be flown to ISS, NASA expert told RIA Novosti.
The meeting of NASA special commission, the NASA spokesman in Russia said, decided that Endeavour’s launch won’t be put off.

NASA reported sabotage on July 26. A worker of NASA subcontractor intentionally cut wiring in the computer to be flown to the ISS aboard Endeavour, Bill Gerstenmaier, who is NASA’s associate administrator for space operations, told reporters at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The damage was caused not to computer but rather to the system that transmits data from ISS devices via the wire-free communication. The facilities were manufactured by one of NASA subcontractors and the failure was detected in mid-July, the expert said, pointing out the sabotage posed no threat to the ISS crew and will be repaired by the time when Endeavour is due to lift off to ISS.

Endeavour will be launched to ISS on August 7 to spend up to 11 days at the space station, install a new structural beam and deliver supplies. Spacemen will have three spacewalks to upgrade ISS.
