Russia’s Missile Defense Proposal Is Alternative to U.S. Plans
At the Wednesday meeting of Russia-NATO Council, Russia’s delegation provided details of the missile defense proposal that President Vladimir Putin made to his U.S. counterpart George W. Bush in time of the G8 summit and during their July get-together in the United States.
The NATO partners were clarified about Russia’s proposal for using the Qabala radar station in Azerbaijan and Armavir radar station and for creating data exchange centers to evaluate threats of missile attacks, Anatoly Antonov from the RF Foreign Ministry and Gen.-Lt. Evgeny Buzhinsky from Defense Ministry told reporters in Brussels.

”It was another, and apparently the successful attempt to bring our ideas to NATO. It’s vital that our conclusions have been heard today. I don’t think they have been taken in whole but I see nothing awful in it. We hope our information will be analyzed in the capitals of NATO states and then deliberations will continue,” Antonov said.

”Our proposal is the package one. It isn’t an addition but rather the alternative to the U.S. plans,” the diplomat emphasized.
