S-400 Triumph to Cover Moscow Early August
S-400 Triumph Air Defense Systems will be in combat alert starting from August 6, 2007, according to the web-site of Russia’s Federal Industry Agency.
At first, only a battery of surface-to-air missiles and a command post will be put in the combat alert, but the regiment will reach the required strength along with the launch of new facilities.

The preliminary live-fire exercises were successfully conducted in Defense Ministry’s training ground in the Astrakhan region July 12 to 13.

S-400 Triumph Air Defense Systems are designated to hit all types of air targets, ranging from the low-altitude cruise missiles and aircraft to ballistic missiles of mid.-range. It could fire both the missiles of latest development and the missiles used at S-300. Overall, Russia will have over 20 regiments operating the S-400s. Four of them will ensure the air defense of Moscow.
