Russia’s Bombers, Britain’s Fighters Had New Rendezvous
On July 20, the fighter jets of Britain and Norway took off four times at alarm to intercept strategic bombers of Russia that currently tend to favor the airspace above neutral waters for flights.
Tu-160 and Tu-95MS strategic bombers are making regular training flights over the neutral waters in the water area of the Arctic Ocean and Atlantic Ocean near the coast of Britain, Norway, Denmark and Island, Interfax reported with reference to Colonel Alexander Drobyshevsky, an aide to commander-in-chief of Russia’s Air Forces.
Accompanied by two Il-78 flying tankers, the bombers got off the ground in Vorkuta. “The actions of foreign fighter jets didn’t hinder execution of training tasks,” Drobyshevsky said pointing out that the flights of bombers were in line with the application for using international airspace.
