Beaten by Ibragimov, Briggs Calls Out Klitschko Jr
Former WBO heavyweight champion Shannon “The Cannon” Briggs has called out IBF king Wladimir Klitschko of Ukraine, 15rounds.com reported.
Shannon Briggs yielded to Russia’s Sultan Ibragimov June 3. He said he had been diagnosed walking pneumonia prior to the title defense and it was the reason of his failure to the Russian.
"No matter what his people are trying say, I was not 100 percent going into that fight. Give me the opportunity to fight at full strength, and we'll see what happens. If Klitschko is so great, he should have no problem taking a fight with me," Briggs said as quoted by 15rounds.com.
Indeed, the team of Wladimir Klitschko had been weighing the chances of the bout with Briggs. But the Ukrainian boxer preferred to fight another American, Calvin Brock, whom he easily knocked down.
In his last bout that happened July 8, Wladimir overwhelmed U.S. Lemon Brewster in Cologne, Germany.
