Moldova to Resume Wine Export to Russia
Russia’s Federal Service for Consumer Rights Supervision, Rospotrebnadzor, has lifted the wine import ban from two producers of Moldova, RIA Novosti reported.
“Of five enterprises picked out by results of the survey, three submitted the samples to sanitary and epidemiological examination. The conclusions were made out for 21 product items of two producers,” Rospotrebnadzor announced, inspiring the winemakers of Moldova.
The favored winemakers will return to Russia after the break of nearly a year and a half, as the bureaucrats closed the market for wine of Georgia and Moldova far back in March of 2006, attributing the decision to poor quality of product. The sanitary officials of Russia claimed that pesticides and heavy metal had been found in samples of wine marked as product of Georgia and Moldova.
Six brands of wine of another Moldova’s producer are being checked now. Moreover, Rospotrebnadzor officials will soon meet with Moldova’s winemakers and importers “to explain directly, without any intermediaries, the steps to be taken to speed up positive dynamics of Moldova’s wine supplies.”
The intention of Moldova’s winemakers is to win back their 30 percent to 35 percent of Russia’s market. The analysts forecast they will mostly deliver the brand and collection wine of renowned producers.
