British Secret Services Rescued Berezovsky from Death Trap
British M15 and M16 foiled attempted murder of Boris Berezovsky, The Sun reported. Once the Kremlin mastermind, Berezovsky is the fiercest critic of Moscow today.
A hitman, allegedly of Russia’s origin, was to shoot Berezovsky at the Hilton Hotel on London Park lane, but M15 and M16 intercepted intelligence about the planned death trap and caught the killer right before he intended to give effect to the plot.
The murder was to be committed over the last two weeks. The assassin, who was to lure Berezovsky to the hotel for negotiations, took a child with him to clear of suspicion.
In tandem with Scotland Yard, security officers of Britain arranged round-the-clock surveillance for Berezovsky and the suspect. They also took a room next to the room of potential crime and arrested the hitman before he could open fire.
Berezovsky told The Times he left London three weeks ago on Scotland Yard’s advice. He returned to the city, as the danger was over, the billionaire announced.
Scotland Yard declined to comment on details of the plot. Berezovsky wasn’t willing to elaborate either, his representative said.
