Berezovsky Ready for Trial in 3rd Country
A London-based exiled billionaire of Russia, Boris Berezovsky vowed Tuesday to submit himself for trial in any third country if Lugovoy fears to go to Britain.
Speaking on BBC2’s Newsnight, Berezovsky said Lugovoy could stand before the court in some third country, in Germany, Denmark or Norway for instance, “if he wants to clear the situation.” “He is able to travel anywhere he wants if he feels he is not guilty,” the billionaire said.
Russia officially refused Britain’s extradition request for former FSB agent Andrey Lugovoy, Britain's prime suspect in the murder of Russian ex-spy Alexander Litvinenko, on grounds that the RF constitution forbids extradition of citizens. Of interest is that Lugovoy not only denies accusations but also speaks of Berezovsky’s involvement in Litvinenko’s murder.
Berezovsky told France Presse he is ready to go to any third county where a fair trial could be guaranteed, if Lugovoy is scared of arriving in Britain.
In the interview to BBC, Berezovsky again blamed Litvinenko’s death on the Kremlin. The tycoon forecasted that Lugovoy would be never allowed to go anywhere and pointed out that Putin was behind the murder.
