Brazilian Court Orders to Arrest Berezovsky
A Brazilian court has issued an arrest warrant for Russian self-exiled tycoon Boris Berezovsky, the ITAR-TASS news agency reported Thursday. Mr. Berezovsky and his business partners are accused of money laundering at the Brazilian soccer club Corinthians.
Judge Fausto Martin de Sanctis also issued warrants to arrest Kia Joorabchian and Nojan Bedroud, other directors of the Media Sports Investments, a group which sponsored Corinthians. Brazilian prosecutors suspect Media Sports Investments of money laundering and setting up a criminal group. Four Brazilian directors of Corinthians are to testify at the trial, Reuters said.

Brazil is going to ask Interpol to arrest Mr. Berezovsky, Joorabchian and Bedroud who are all abroad now.

Prosecutors started looking into the case after management of Corinthians doubted the source of money that the businessmen were investing in the team.

Boris Berezovsky was detained in the Sao Paolo airport in May 2005. The police let him go after a few hours of interrogation. Mr. Berezovsky said the case was masterminded by Russian officials.

A trial for Mr. Berezovsky, who has been living in self-imposed exile in London since 2002, got underway in Moscow this week. The businessman is accused of embezzling 214 million from the Aeroflot airline company.
